Cool Transitions

I absolutely HATE the cold weather. The way my low iron deficiency anemia is set up, it hates me too. The only thing good that comes from cooler months are winter snow days and fall fashion. If your weather is like Tennessee, you never know what you’re going to get. Just this week we’ve had barefoot summer, a tornado, and turtleneck temperatures in the 40’s. I hate it here!!! Tropical island me please!!!!

Although I’m thinking this winter is going to be terrible, I am hoping for a snow day or 2 or 5. Luckily, that’s not going on just yet. Right now we’re focused on the transition looks since we’re still having some sunshine and slightly warmer days mixed in here and there. Some days it has been fall temperatures in the morning and evening, but spring/summer temps during the day. The best thing to do is layer up so you can take things off and put them back on when necessary. Here are a few looks I have been wearing over the weeks that kept me cute and warm without burning me up.

Look one are these super cute palazzo pants. They are definitely giving spring/summer: lightweight and flowy. I paired them with a sleek gray turtleneck. I debated between black booties or purple chucks. Both worked great, but as you can see Taylor gang won the fight lol. For even more warmth you could add a denim jacket, leather jacket, or cardigan on top. Layers and different materials will give your look texture to balance the busy print of the pants.

Next, throw on a pair of long boots and a cardigan with your favorite skirt and tank top outfit. Add some stockings if needed, and you’re fall ready. The perfect cute and cozy look. You can do heeled boots to dress it up, or flat boots to keep it comfy. Easy enough, right? I chose a denim skirt, multi colored tank, and my rider boots. I paired it with this long sleeve button down dress that I’m wearing as a cardigan. I love convertible pieces like this because you can wear them in numerous ways.

Silk dresses are still a thing, so why not go total opposite and pair it with a leather jacket. I absolutely love this combination. It’s hard and soft, dainty with a bit of grunge- the perfect look for a gal like me. The shoes you choose depend on the event. Dress it down with chucks, keep it edgy with combat boots, or dress it up with heels. You could also add a pair of tights to elevate the look. There are so many different options.

Last, but certainly not least is the trusty flannel; because what is fall without flannel? They look good on and/or tied around your waist. You can pair a flannel with just about anything you can think of. I kept it simple with a band tee and these faux leather leggings; a classic and one of my absolute favorite looks. I also like adding denim with my flannel so I opted for my go-to denim jacket and tied the flannel around my waist. You can also layer the flannel under your jacket for more warmth, but it was in the 60’s that day and I felt fine.

I tried to give versatile looks so everyone is guaranteed to already have something mentioned in their closet already. You can mix and match them all up however you’d like. For instance: take the turtleneck from look one, and throw it under (or over) a silk dress, and that’s another look you could go with. Or throw your flannel on top of your sweater in look two to incorporate a print to the simple look. The variations of fall transitional looks are endless, that and the colors are what makes fall fashion so fun!
