Time is really flying y’all… my baby girl is now 2 whole years old. Yep, officially a part of the terrible two toddlers. As many of you all know, we try to take a trip each birthday as part of our traveling to all 50 states goal. For her second birthday we chose Indianapolis: home of the motor speedway, since it’s fitting to her growing up too fast… get it?
Jre Jre loves all things fast: go karts, running, rides, you name it. We ended up purchasing a city pass, as we did for her first birthday in Texas, to explore the town while having some fun. I really suggest if you’re traveling with children to check and see if that city/state has a pass. It saves you money, but also gives you fun, educational activities that are enjoyable for both you and the kiddos. Some of the passes even have restaurant options.
I feel like we always choose the zoo and the children’s museum in every city. They seem to always be hits. The city passes typically don’t include parking or the extras (like rides or special events) unfortunately, but you get entry to 4-5 places for a discounted fee. Considering you’re visiting that state probably just that one time, there’s no need to purchase memberships to zoos, museums, etc.
We arrived late Friday night, and left Sunday evening, so we didn’t have tons of time to do much, but we still made the most of it. We spent Saturday evening at the pool to cool off after a long day at the zoo, and Sunday at one of the worlds largest Children’s Museum before we headed home.
Indianapolis does not have great food like some of the states we visited already like Louisiana or Texas, and I don’t feel like it was quite as fun or exciting. However, the vacation was much needed, and we can cross another state off of our list. I think Jreyah enjoyed her 2nd birthday trip even though she is growing up way too fast for mommy!
